CONSTITUTION

Go to page 771 in your textbook and read the Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments).  If you were only allowed to keep one which one would you keep and why?

  1. I would keep the 1st amendment becuase nobody has the right to tell you in what religion you have to believe in. No one can stop you from saying what you think becuase you have the right to express your self freely .

  2. i agree with Joselyn because how would you like it if people told you what to believe. In north korea everybody is taught to believe in their leader and nobody else and they dont get to cpeak their mind about what is going on because if they did they would get killed. i would hate to have my life like that. people should get the right to say what they want to about what they want to. lide in silence isnt a life at all. if you couldn't have your word in how the world is run and what you can do or believe would you like it? is that really a life at all?

  4. I'd pick the first amendment maily because it has the most rules to it, you have the freedom of press, religion, petition, and speech which i think are the main things America wanted to base this country on. Although all of the other amendments are important, the freedom to think what i want, believe what i want and say what i want is most important to me.

  5. I would pick the first amendment because you have the freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly and petition. With those rights you can do whatever you want, and you have the right to decide who would be the president and changes you want in your society.

  6. As said by most of my peers i agree the 1st amendment is very important to us because it gives us what we call a free nation of course there still is limits to those rights. Although the first amendment gives us the right to believe in any god we want and lets us speak how we want it is not a single most important in our bill or right. If i had to choose to keep only i wouldn't be able to. the first 10 amendments (Bill of Rights) are the protection of the people's life liberty and pursuit of happiness. Which is mentioned on the Declaration of Independence so if taken away what did we really free our selfs from if we would be living under the same dictatorship or at least the same rules we were once held back with. So i say no 1 amendment is more important than the other.

  7. Well like everyone else thats posted i would go with the first amendment, mostly because after watching that video of north korea i wouldnt want to be told what i can and cant watch and have to "believe" in the leader just so i can live. There are limits to the rights we have but its better to have some say in what goes on in our government, saying what we want and being able to voice our opinions are good and sometimes bad, but it happens right. Reading the newspaper and magazines help us see whats going on around the world and what problems there are, if we didnt have that who knows how the world would be. I think the first amendment is the most important to most people!

  8. I would have to go with the 1st amendment because it gives us the freedom of speech, religion and the press. We should all have the right to say how we feel, express our opinions, let other people know how we feel. I have known of countries that don't have the right to express themselves so they need to pretend to like something just so that they won't have the risk of getting judged or some countries even take it to the extreme and kill people for wanting to express themselves. It would be horrifying to have to live without the first amendment.

  9. I would have to agree with everyone on here. I would keep the first amendment, gives us freedom of speech, religion and the press. With all that we can express our true selves. Other countries for example North Korea dont have the freedom that we do. It would be a terrible life if i couldnt express myself on how i feel about things. Feels good to know that people listen to you and respect your own opinion.

  10. So I don't say what everyone else has said I'll pick the second amendment. With its power to bear arms I can defend the rights that I believe and hope for others to join me in a fight for unalienable rights. Ill make a revolution so we have the all the rights we should have. If it all goes well i might even be chosen to lead the revolution and lead America into a better situation with less debt and poverty. Maybe the end result of this might just be a better place than what we had or a world filled with violence but its a risk id like to take.

  11. I would to say that I'd keep the first amendment because of freedom of religion I can express my true self without having anyone tell me anything about it. I try to follow my religious beliefs, and I believe that my actions really do relfect my religion. Freedom of religion is a big thing to me and I love how i can have it without anyone telling me that i cant believe in what i do. (:

  12. I believe the first amendment is the most important as well. Without giving people the right to speak for themselves, we would be living in a dictatorship. It is important for people to be able to voice their opinion and practice their religion. Without the people would not be the center of government power, itd be the exact opposite.
