Do you believe they should build the Mosque close to Ground Zero?
Why? Why Not?
What does it say about us if we do or do not build it?
Please make sure that your post is at least 100 words.

I dont think they should build the Mosque close to Ground Zero, they're already having enough problems there and tension is already rising. I think it just shows how divided the nation can still be over things that really shouldn't be such a problem when we have far more intense situations we should be focusing our time on.
ReplyDeleteI read the entire article and discussed this issue with my parent. My mom believes to build a mosque on ground zero is Islam (more specifically Alkaida)making a mockery of us. They are funding it themselves, but who's to say that their funding isn't coming from Alkaida? Personally I believe they should be allowed to build the mosque on Ground zero. Freedom of religion is the first amendment of our constitution and to deny them the right to build their mosque is a violation of their rights. Not allowing them the right to build a mosque could also lead to larger battles with Islam. We may not be open to letting them build the mosque, but it's the right thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI agree that muslim people should be able to build their mosque where ever the land or space is available because its true we americans all have the freedom of religion and assembly. We can't be denied the excise of any religion, so to me the denial of the mosque is discriminatory and unconstitutional. However I do understand what the people fear when they think of the "gatherings" of this people. We might think we are letting the enemy too close into territory, but I think of it as a stereotype kind of thinking. Although I fear as well of the on comings of war that this may cause.
ReplyDeletewell i dont really know
ReplyDeleteto tell you the truth but if they have the money and the power and thier religion votes on it they should do it they should have an electhion and see them selfs but like cristian said they have a right to bulid thier mosque but some thing like this well have people protesting and some how become a problem to the people ..
Building a mosque at Ground Zero is almost the same thing as laughing at america for being free. I am not saying that they shouldn't build the mosque. Although I am saying they should not build a mosque right now in this time of war and especially where america lost so many innocent citizens becasue of their religion and belifes. Saying no to their religion only says that we have pride and respect for our country. Because of their rights of freedom of religion should be allowed to build it but not in a place sensitive to all of america. America is still hurt about the world trade center and they should respect that and at least move to a diffrent location.
ReplyDeleteI believe that muslim people should build their mosque wherever they want. Denying their freedom of religion is like a slap to their face. We cannot deny people their freedom of religion. Just like the US doesnt deny it to us Americans. We should just let them do what they want but just keep them checked at all times. Not all the people are going to agree with me but i think people should just get over it and be happy and peaceful human beings. And to that my conclusion is for the US let the muslims build their mosque.:)
ReplyDeleteI Believe The Muslims Can Build There Mosque Wherever They Want,If They Have Enough Money For The Land So They Can Build It Then Its Fine. They All Have The Fredom To Do Anything They Want Just Like Us U.S Citizens Do.I Dont Think You Should Deny Them Because Thats Going To Cause More Problems. Then They Can Think We Dont Respect Them.Thats What We Are Trying To Do Avoid Problems And Make Things More Easy And Organized.
ReplyDeleteThis article has two good points on either side. On the side of the Muslims, they are backed by the constitution. On the other hand, families of the ones who were last at ground zero might feel insulted. Personally, I don’t agree with the Muslims building the mosque on around ground zero. There are so many other places that they could have their building so why not go there? I believe the people opposing this are asking for one little things; respect. We wouldn’t have our army in Iraq raid a city and then try building a church on the site. I don’t think they should allow this mosque to be created. They should let the other mosques be built because there is no reason for not doing it. But the Muslims should let the people of the U.S have the area around ground zero.
ReplyDeleteThe First Amendment of our Constitution established the freedom of religion as the law of the land, and that right has been upheld ever since. That’s why I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakeable. The principle that people of all faiths are welcome in this country, and will not be treated differently by their government, is essential to who we are. We must all recognize and respect the sensitivities surrounding the development of lower Manhattan. The 9/11 attacks were a deeply traumatic event for our country. The pain and suffering experienced by those who lost loved ones is unimaginable. So I understand the emotions that these issue engenders. We remain "one nation, under God, indivisible" and we can only achieve "liberty and justice for all" if we live by that one rule at the heart of every religion.
ReplyDeleteThat was a very intresting article. In my opinion i think they should let them build it. Everyone in the united states should have freedom of religion. Yes, some people might take it bad because its in ground zero where 911 happen. But not all Muslim people should be blamed just for what two people did. they should have a place of worship just how we all have ours for example our churches. Yet this can be taken two diffrent ways. The people who had victims in Ground zero may just be asking for something as simple as respect.
ReplyDeleteI think that the Muslim people should be able to build their mosque where ever they want. I mean it’s their money and their own thing they should be able to do it without having trouble and conflict rise with us. You can’t just deny someone because their different, we have to respect everyone’s religion and beliefs, not doing so would make us look bad. We just have to live with it, and let them do what they want, but keep checking on them every now and then. So we just have to be happy and let them build their mosque.
ReplyDeleteWhether people disagree with the mosque aand the muslim church on ground zero it is not their decision it is a religious freedom and a free will of diversity. Therefore it is their free will to build thee mosque wherever they please. If people dont want it to happen, it proves their inability of acceptance and tolerance. Either way it wasnt all muslims its all a conspiracy. People should do more research rather than just assume to quickly, on the 911 case.
ReplyDeleteThis is so wrong, I can't understand why people can't see the problems. There are other areas in New York City to build a mosque that would be better suited than ground zero. People need to stop and think about what is right not what is politically correct. It totally is a slap in the face. I can't believe this is even being considered. I can't even begin to wonder what the families of those who lost loved ones in the 911 attack feel. The war right now is against terrorism, who are the terrorist? Muslims.. this is definitely a horrible idea.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion this problem is just because they are going to build the mosque near to the ground zero I just think that is religious freedom they are able to build their mosque where ever they want... they are not bother anyone. We are judging these peple just becuase some people of the same reliogion are terrorists, I mean not all the people think the same way or have the same feelings to the United States. First Amendment of the constituton says fredom of religion I don't think that they can't change the constitution just because of this problem.
ReplyDeleteEven though we do live in the United States where we do have freedom of speech and rights, not all muslims are bad they do have different beliefs that is why they came to the U.S where they are allowed to have rights. I believe it is not right for muslims to want to build a mosque near ground zero. There are other areas they can build their mosque. Ground zero is very sensitive to U.S citizens we also have our rights to vote to allow the mosque being built.
ReplyDeleteWho's to say what someone can and can't build? It has been almost 9 years since someone has attacked America; it just goes to show that people still hold some kind of grudge or prejudice to the Islamic people. I don't think it would make a difference how they build it because either way i think it's better for the community. Some Americans are just always trying to have a say so in everything that people do in this country or over seas.
ReplyDeleteno i dont believe they should build the Mosque close to Ground Zero after what has happened in the past an for what is still going on with terrorism. We shouldn neglect thoughs of the culture religion an just all beliefs, but the government was created for ptotection in the first place they can build it but not at ground zero. religion is a freedom that can be expressed but does also have restrictions but why can we not take this right away if their wanting to take away the so called "anchor baby" law taking the most impotant god given right
ReplyDeleteI'm not like against their religion or anything, i just feel like their mocking us. Of all the places, why did they decide to build it there! I think they are taking advantage of our rights. I think they should pass a law that kinda has exceptions with our rights of religion. Sure it seems like we're holding the grudge but we have a perfect reason too. Just like they still won't forget us for "Americanizing" their sh*t hole of a country. We tried to help them and they get mad, they attack us and we shouldn't be mad? That doesn't make sense.
ReplyDelete(Ivan) The have every right to build it near ground zero and should. Islam does not share the views of the religious radicals that come up with sudo religious views that they use to preach the vulnerable. Suicide and terrorism is not a value that is incorporated with Islam, its the stereotypical view that has sprouted up due to al qaeda and similar terrorist groups. Restricting them from building the mosque is unconstitutional, this country was founded on the principle of religious freedom and no one has the right to say which religion is right and wrong. I understand the outrage but anyone against it must suck it up and develop some tolerance because all Muslims should not be punished for the idiotic mistakes of a few crazy ones. To Jose GonzaleZ, we should change the first amendment just because of what some few radical brainwashed muslims did? How exactly are theay taking advantage of our rights? they are not above anyone, just american citizens who have a disticnt religion. America is also a S***t hole in our own way, policing the world. To put it in an example, what would the United States do if they suddenly came into the country and tried to change everything? im pretty sure we wouldnt roll out the red carpet for them, we would also retaliate. You just have to see their point of view not our media's were everything we do is for our freedom, its not like they were in control of us, we are free and i dont recall them ever threatening that freedom.
ReplyDeleteOur country and our forefathers founded the united states under christian beliefs therefor we should deny the building of this mosque. i dont think that they should build the mosque near ground zero because of the muslim beliefs. If we dont build this mosque that only says that the United States doesnt support the muslim beliefs. i strongly believe that its wrong that the same religion that attacked our financial system would want to practice their muslim faith near the same place they attacked. I really believe that its wrong and shouldnt be built. if anything, it should be built somewhere else not near the ground zero.
